Step by Step

During your stay in Vienna, don't miss the Albertina Museum, one of the most luxurious and highly praised museums in the city. Walk through this building and see works of various artistic styles, such as the Batliner collection of modern European art, or Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings.

This space houses nearly 65,000 drawings and approximately 1 million engravings. Among these works, you will find creations by artists such as Monet, Da Vinci, Klimt, Picasso, Renoir and Degas.

The Albertina Museum is a museum created in 1776 which, in addition to its extensive collection of prints and engravings, also contains architectural plans and photographs. Its variety is very peculiar, as we can find engravings by Goya, up to 120 pieces by the German painter Dürer and examples of pop art.

The Batliner collection, the museum's best-known collection, contains 500 works. You'll find Impressionist paintings such as those by Alex Katz, Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne. There are also works by Matisse and expressionists such as Kandinsky. Vienna's imperial and palatial style is also reflected in the decoration of the rooms in the museum, as well as the elegant Muses' Hall, filled with chandeliers.

The decoration was originallycommissioned by Louis XVI from workshops of the Royal Court in Paris and Versailles, so its style is sumptuous and of a very pronounced opulence.
