Step by Step
This activity is ideal for fans of the Game of Thrones series. For around 2 hours, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the main locations where the popular HBO series was filmed, on location in King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms .
Throughout the tour, you will be accompanied by an expert guide, who will teach you about the architecture and history of the monuments you will visit. You will also discover interesting facts and gossip about the filming of the series, and how the monuments were transformed to bring the production locations to life.
You will learn how this Croatian city was transformed into the different kingdoms of Westeros and Essos, how some of the most iconic scenes from the series were filmed and how the locals experienced having the Game of Thrones production in their city.
You can also have the option of adding a boat trip of about 1 hour along the Croatian coastline, which will also allow you to enjoy the breathtaking views of Dubrovnik from the Adriatic Sea. In case you want to add this option, you can pay for the ticket on the day of the tour at the ticket office.
Some of the filming locations you will visit during this Game of Thrones themed tour include the following:
- Forte Lovrijenac: This is a 16th century fortress, located on top of a hill in the city. During the production, it was transformed into "The Red Keep", the castle of the kings of Westeros.
- Pile Gate: This is one of the main entrances to the Old Town of Dubrovnik. This 16th century fortified gate has been restored and retains its original structure. It was used as the gateway to King's Landing, and from here Cersei Lannister began her famous "Walk of Shame".
- Dominican Monastery: A 14th century monastery near the Ploce Gate. It was used as the "House of the Undying", where Daenerys Targaryen seeks visions of the past and the future.
- Palace of the Rectors: a 13th century Gothic-Renaissance palace that was used as the seat of government for the rectors of the Republic of Ragusa. It was used in the series as the venue for the wedding feast of King Joffrey and Margaery, as well as the setting for the residence of the Spice King of Qarth .
