Hamlet's Castle in Kronborg will probably be the most visited and attractive place of the whole tour. It was the setting for the tragic novel "Hamlet", written by the internationally renowned writer William Shakespeare. A World Heritage Site, Elsinore Castle was built in 1420 and is now home to the Kronborg Maritime and Trade Museum.

The Frederiksborg palace complex also deserves special mention. It is Renaissance in style and was erected in conjunction with a large Baroque garden. It was the royal residence of King Christian IV of Denmark. It symbolises the grandeur and power of the Danish absolute monarchy.

Finally, you will visit Roskilde. It is considered one of the oldest Danish cities and was also the capital of the country for a time. Its architectural and tourist attractions include Roskilde Cathedral, in Gothic style, which is also the largest cathedral in the whole of Denmark.
