Step by Step

This tour lasts approximately 3 hours and takes you to a typical Nubian village not far from Aswan. As this is a private tour, you will receive privileged treatment from the guide, who will not only explain the history of the place and its monuments, but also accompany you to the home of a local family. As is customary in the desert, you will be welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea.

By choosing this activity, you will also be able to cruise down the Nile River in a boat or falucho, take a stroll through the village, characterised by pastel-painted houses, and see the Nile crocodiles, closely associated with Nubian culture. Travel is in an air-conditioned vehicle, and pick-up and drop-off at your hotel in Aswan is included.

The Nubians are a very ancient people who lived in the territory on the border between southern Egypt and Sudan. Today, their original lands are covered by the waters of Lake Nasser - the reservoir created by the High Dam - and they live in small villages on the banks of the Nile.

In particular, the settlements are on Elephantine Island, located just opposite Aswan. In ancient Egypt, the city of the pharaohs was located here and traces of the past can be seen in the remains of the temples of Jnum and Heqa-ib and the tiny Elephantine pyramid, the smallest in the country.
