Step by Step
In this activity you will have the opportunity to climb aboard the Cap San Diego, the largest cargo ship-museum in the world . The activity will last around 90 minutes, during which you will be able to explore the ship and learn many interesting facts about its past.
You will be able to see the places where the officers and crew of the ship ate and slept, as well as its engine room, its hold, and the routes that, over more than 100 voyages, this 159-metre-long, 50-year-old ship sailed.
Throughout the journey, you will be accompanied by an expert guide, who will tell you stories about the port of Hamburg and its maritime past, while you enjoy the views of the city from the sea and feel the sea breeze on your face. Along the way, you'll also pass some of the main sites in Hamburg's harbour, including the following:
- St Pauli's Quay: This is one of Hamburg's most iconic landmarks, known for its lively nightlife and numerous bars and nightclubs . It also offers panoramic views of the harbour and the river Elbe.
- HafenCity: HafenCity is a modern district of Hamburg located in the harbour area of the city. It is an area of great urban development, with buildings of contemporary architecture, museums and numerous shops and restaurants.
- Elbphilharmonie: An impressive concert hall building located at the western end of HafenCity. It is known for its futuristic design and for offering panoramic views of the city from its public platform at the top.
At the end of the activity, you will return to the original starting point, as it is a round trip.
