Step by Step
Get to know the White Mountains of Crete with this excursion from Chania, about 35 kilometres, the equivalent of about 45 minutes, by road. This is an experience that lasts around seven hours for groups of around 32 people, with a professional guide accompanying you on this activity. A bus transfer to and from the centre of Chania is included, as well as a lunch to savour the local gastronomy of the Greek island.
On Crete, Greece's largest island, you will see how it is a very diverse place where travellers can explore different types of attractions, such as hiking trails in the White Mountains.
You will have the opportunity to see what a mitato, a traditional stone hut found in the mountains of Crete, looks like. These houses have a thatched roof made of plants, such as dried grasses or reeds. They are used by shepherds and farmers as shelter during the lambing season or while tending their flocks.
During the tour you can visit several Cretan villages, such as Alikianos, Fournes, Meskla, Zourva and Therisso. In fact, the latter village is charming and is known for its natural environment. It is also famous for its role in the Cretan revolution against Ottoman rule in 1905.
As well as strolling through the narrow streets of Therisso, you can also do so in the other villages, which can only be accessed by jeeps, which have a capacity of 7-9 seats.
