Step by Step

Tickets to the Museum of Illusions will open the doors of one of the most original places in Rome. By choosing this activity you will be able to test your perception of reality, which will be fooled by a number of special effects. This activity is designed for audiences of all ages, from children to adults. The museum is easily accessible, as it is located in the heart of the Eternal City, a stone's throw from Termini Station and just over 15 minutes' walk from the Colosseum.

The Museum of Illusions is an unconventional place. You can take photos and touch the sets. You will discover how our eyes are far from reliable and easy to deceive. The list below brings together some of the most emblematic rooms of this cultural institution.

  • Stanza di Ames - As you move back and forth, you will see your body get smaller or bigger.
  • Tavolo dei Cloni - Sit at a table to watch five clones appear.
  • Stanza Ruotata - For those who have always dreamed of climbing walls
  • Vortex Tunnel - A stage that will test your perception of balance. Although everything seems to be moving around you, it's a deception.
  • Testa sul piatto - You know the recurring threat from "Alice in Wonderland" or the biblical episode of Salome? A severed head on a plate is a shocking image and in Rome you can experience this optical illusion.

The Museum of Illusions was born in Croatia in 2015 with the aim of creating a space to learn and amaze. Today it is present in many countries and the one in Rome is the second in Italy after the one in Milan. A complete visit usually lasts about an hour.

I went with my family and we had a lot of fun. Between the magic and everything we laughed from the moment we entered until we left. For me the best thing was the unstable floors, amazing!
