Step by Step

Join this tour and visit Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest peak. The activity will last approximately 8 hours, during which you will be accompanied by an expert guide . You will learn many interesting facts about the mountain ecosystem of this Southern Alps peak from your guide.

Along the way from Queenstown you will enjoy the beautiful natural scenery on both sides of the road. You'll cross through the Cromwell wine region, where you'll see fields full of vines, to the Lindis Pass road, one of the few passable alpine passes in the area.

At Lindis Pass you can climb up to its famous lookout point and enjoy the snowy views of New Zealand's valleys and peaks, which are dotted with forests and blue lakes. You'll be able to take some spectacular photos, before continuing on to Omarama village and Lake Pukaki.

In the village of Omarama, you can take a short break and enjoy a snack of local food before continuing on to Lake Pukaki, which lies in the shadow of Mount Cook and offers unbeatable views of the peak. Here you will understand why this setting has been used for famous films such as Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai and X Men. Once in Mount Cook National Park, you can enjoy some free time to walk and explore along the beautiful trails.

Mount Cook is the highest peak in New Zealand, with an altitude of 3,724 metres. The mountain was named after Sir James Cook, the famous British explorer who explored and mapped much of the South Pacific during the 18th century. However, the Maori, the indigenous people of New Zealand, call the mountain Aoraki, which is a prominent figure in Maori mythology.

Upon completion of the activity, you will be taken back to the original starting point in Queenstown, as this is a round trip.
