Step by Step

Enjoy the culture and history of Jerez thanks to this guided tour of the city and its main monuments. Specifically, tickets to the Alcazar and the Cathedral of Jerez are included.

You'll have access to these monuments, but you'll also take a tour through the streets of the city. The whole experience lasts about 2 hours and you won't be alone, as you'll be accompanied by a professional art history tour guide.

While walking through the streets of Jerez de la Frontera, you will learn about its most important characteristics such as its passion for flamenco, the great variety of its horses or its culinary culture.

On the other hand, you will learn about the history of its past inside the monuments. The Alcázar is a group of fortified buildings dating from the 12th century in the Almohad style, i.e. of Muslim origin. Specifically, it is the oldest in Spain. When it was built it served as a palace and fortress for the Muslims, so you will learn about their history and customs.

Moving on from the Muslim era, you will visit the 17th century Jerez Cathedral , built in Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical style. Inside you will learn about why there is no majority Muslim civilisation living in Jerez, as well as the change to a Christian civilisation and the changes this brought about.

Another point of interest inside the Cathedral is a painting on display. It consists of a work by Zurbarán, the Virgen Niña Dormida, which is considered to be one of the treasures of this religious building.
