Ephesus is an ancient city located on the west coast of Turkey. It was one of the largest and richest cities in the world during Roman times and is famous for its impressive ruins. Among the places you will visit in Ephesus are:

  • The Temple of Artemis: one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, built in the 6th century BC in honour of the Greek goddess Artemis. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times during its history.
  • The Library of Celsus: one of the largest libraries of antiquity, built in the 2nd century AD. The library had the capacity to store more than 12,000 papyrus scrolls.

Pamukkale, meanwhile, is a stunning natural attraction known for its white travertine pools and thermal waterfalls. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a must-see on any trip to Turkey. Some of the places you will visit in Pamukkale are as follows:

  • Travertine pools: white limestone formations in the shape of pools. These pools have been formed over thousands of years due to the accumulation of dissolved calcium carbonate in the water of the thermal waterfalls.
  • Thermal waterfalls: thermal water cascading through the pools in the Pamukkale mountain. The water flowing from the waterfalls has a high concentration of minerals and is believed to have healing and skin-healing properties.
  • Ruins of Hierapolis: An ancient city located at the top of Pamukkale. The city was an important healing centre in Roman times due to its hot springs, until it was destroyed by an earthquake in the 7th century AD.
