Step by Step

Get a taste of Boston's nightlife with a local guide on this historic tavern tour. You'll learn about the history of the last three centuries of this American city in an experience that lasts about three and a half hours in groups of about 12 people. During this walking tour, you'll visit a number of taverns, including snacks and at least two drinks.

One of the spots you'll pass through is the North End, also known as Boston's Little Italy, a maze of narrow streets with some of the oldest buildings in the city. You'll pass historic sites such as the 1680's Paul Revere House and the Old North Church, which played a key role in the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

Included in this experience is a round-trip ferry ride across Boston Harbor to admire the panoramic view of the city. After this quick transfer you will arrive at the Old North Church and the Old State House, the oldest public building still standing in Boston.

Some of the taverns you will visit during this tour include

  • Bell in Hand: the tavern that served its first drink in 1795. It is the oldest continuously operating tavern in the United States, except during Prohibition, which closed all legal bars in the country.
  • Green Dragon: This old tavern played an important role in Boston's freedom during the Revolutionary War. Founded in 1654, The Green Dragon was a favourite haunt of Paul Revere and John Hancock.

First time in my life on a ferry, I was amazed at how curious it is inside and how fast it is for its size.

The guide was the best, he pointed out every important detail of Boston's history without making it seem like a history lesson, I loved his effort to make us pay attention.
