Step by Step

On this four-hour tour, you'll get to know the true pioneer spirit of Texas. Led by a professional historian guide, the small group of about 13 people will travel in a comfortable minivan through the streets of Fort Worth, which in the 19th century was the last stop for cowboys to rest and buy supplies before entering the territory of the native peoples.

In its historic districts, you can still see signs of the time when Fort Worth was a staging post for cowboys moving their cattle to the Red River. The tour will allow you to see all the places that have made Fort Worth the city that has best preserved the spirit of old Texas. Some of the most frequent stops are as follows:

  • Hell's Half Acre: although today it's the centre of town and you'll see numerous hotels, restaurants, the Bass Performance Hall and the Convention Center, the so-called "Hell's Half Acre" was in the Wild West days a neighbourhood where cowboys went to get drunk, gamble and look for prostitutes. Obviously, gunfights were frequent. On the route along Main Street you'll see many of the locations featured in the Walker Texas Ranger series.
  • Stockyards National Historic District: Your guide will show you the Stockyard Station, which today houses shops, restaurants and even an old steam locomotive.
  • Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame: housed in a historic building, this is the home of the TexasCowboy Hall of Fame.
  • Cowtown Coliseum: in 1918 it became the first indoor rodeo.
  • Livestock Exchange Building: was a cattle market from 1902. In addition to its historical and architectural interest, the building houses an exhibition of everyday objects used by cowboys and the meat industry.

After a guided tour of all the interesting sights of Fort Worth, you will return to the meeting point in Dallas.

The guide was extremely informative and friendly. She gave us details of everything we saw. My favourite part was being able to see the entire Cowtown Coliseum.

I was only going for a few days and found the tour to be an option. We took the tour and got to see a good part of Dallas, although lunch was not included, we stopped at the Stockyard station and there was a great variety of restaurants. We tried a couple of dishes and they were delicious.

Good way to get to know Fort Worth in a quick way, it's an itinerary with several activities but it's totally worth it. Very interesting.

I went with my two children and the experience was nice, the guide was able to entertain them by telling them the stories of the cowboys that rested there.
