Step by Step
The Florida Aquarium is one of the most important and popular aquariums in the United States. It houses more than 9,000 animals distributed in different environments and tactile tanks, which allow you to learn about the characteristics of each species and their behaviour. If you buy a ticket without a queue, you will have the opportunity to go inside and enjoy a nice day out with the family.
As well as avoiding the queues at the entrance, you will have access to the 4Ducks Theatre (to watch videos with special effects) and The Splash Pad children's play area. The following list summarises the other most popular attractions:
- Wetlands of Florida - Florida is famous for its wetlands, such as the Everglades. This corner of the aquarium brings together the animals that live in the state: roseate spoonbills, alligators, river otters and many more.
- Coral Reef - A piece of coral reef housed in a huge tank. In addition to rays and sharks, green moray eels, characterised by a conical body, uniform or reticulated colouring and painful bites, can be seen among the rocks.
- Journey to Madagascar - The African island is famous for its endemic species. Here you will see not only aquatic species, but also ring-tailed lemurs and tomato frogs, which secrete a sticky, toxic substance to ward off predators.
- No Bone Zone - the space dedicated to invertebrates. The undisputed star is the giant green anemone which, although it looks like a vegetable, is in fact a carnivore that feeds on small fish.
It normally takes about 2 hours for a complete visit. If you are travelling by car, the aquarium is surrounded by several pay car parks.
