Step by Step

Discover more flavours on your palate thanks to this tapas tour of Jerez. This is an activity that lasts approximately two hours in a small group where a local guide will accompany you to explain the history of these typical foods. Throughout the city centre you will taste up to three tapas with their corresponding drinks to get to know first-hand how people eat in this part of Andalusia.

Jerez is a stop many people make when visiting the province of Cadiz. Among several reasons are the food and drink. This city is famous for its wine cellars, but also for the tapas that you can eat wherever you want.

Therefore, in this walking tour you will have the opportunity to have up to three different tapas together with three different drinks, which can be wine, beer or soft drinks.

These are some of the typical Jerez tapas you can try:

  • Ajo campero: this is a typical recipe from the sherry farms that dot the Jerez countryside. It is made with the so-called vineyard tomatoes and is served in a small earthenware basin accompanied by radishes.
  • Chicharrones: an ideal delicacy, as they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They are typically served warm and in small pieces.
  • Berza jerezana: a typical dish that has its origins in gypsy cuisine. It is a stew that is complemented with pringá, perfect for winter.
  • Cola de toro (bull's tail): another perfect stew for a tapa with a gelatinous texture, accompanied by abundant sauce.

You will have the option of doing this tour either at midday, for lunch, or in the evening, for dinner.

The service was very good, nothing to say. Some tapas were better than others but it was good to get to know the gastronomy of Jerez. The guide knew how to lead the tour very well, I learned a lot about the place.
