Step by Step
This walking tour combines a gastronomic experience with a tour of the city. The experience lasts approximately 2 hours and, in addition to doughnuts, includes a cup of coffee or tea. You'll meet your local guide at a central Seattle location, and then be escorted on a tour of:
- Kane's Donuts - Historic donut shop, in business since 1955. Known primarily for three things: the quality of the raw ingredients, the avocado recipes and the gluten-free doughnuts, which have been hailed as the best in the US.
- Boston Public Market - Frequented mainly by locals, it is home to New England artisans and farmers. Here you will have the opportunity to sample the famous hot cider doughnuts.
- North End - Boston's "Little Italy". Located at the confluence of the Charles and Mystic Rivers, it is known for its restaurants and Old North Church. In this neighbourhood, you will stop at Bova's Bakery, a bakery known for its Italian-inspired recipes. The stop includes a tasting of Boston Cream Cake (with vanilla sponge cake, vanilla cream and chocolate ganache).
- Union Square Donuts - A chain that makes both classic and innovative artisan donuts.
Since much of the tour is outdoors, I recommend that you wear warm, comfortable clothing in winter. In all seasons, it's good to wear appropriate footwear, as there is some walking involved. The tour is suitable for the whole family and is notable for the friendliness of the guides, who have dozens of amusing anecdotes.
