Step by Step

Cruise through one of Louisiana's protected bayous on this approximately two-hour boat tour of the Honey Island Swamp . After pick-up in downtown New Orleans, board a peaceful boat and enjoy a tour of this nature preserve with on-board commentary from an expert local guide .

As you hear from your guide about the history of the wetlands and the Louisiana marsh ecosystem, you'll be able to see the wildlife of the lush environment. In groups of around 33 people , you'll get up close and personal with wildlife ranging from alligators, raccoons, owls, wild boar, otters, snakes, turtles and American eagles.

You'll see some wild alligators up close as you learn interesting facts about these toothy beasts, which can weigh up to 453 kg. Along the way you will discover the history of the Cajun culture and its inhabitants. You will hear from your guide the story of how the local people used the swamp for food, shelter and medicine.

    This tour is really worthwhile. It is very informative and environmentally friendly. It made me think a lot about the ecosystem and it made me sad to know that it was one of the last protected marshes in Louisiana. Great!
